Neves came in at the expense of Joao Gomes, with Lemina also starting after passing a late fitness test.

And the 26-year-old put in a fine display at Molineux, and played a major part in both goals.

It was his whipped corner that was turned in by Palace defender Joachim Andersen.

And then in injury-time, he scored from the penalty spot to guarantee the points.

It was a fantastic display from Neves, and after the game Lemina gave his thoughts about the Portuguese maestro.

He said (via Wolves YouTube): “Ruben is a massive player for Wolverhampton, for the club, for us. He gives positivity, hard work all the time. He’s pushing us a lot and we are happy to see him back.”

Neves will likely now stay in Wolves’ starting XI moving forwards.

Last night he reminded everyone of his quality.

Neves was playing so well that even Palace manager Roy Hodgson admitting he had to make tactical changes to keep him quiet.

Lopetegui has other options, but Ruben Neves is massive for Wolves

When Neves was suspended, we saw that Wolves are able to cope without him.

Lopetegui has two excellent options in the form of Lemina and Gomes, and life post-Neves is going to be OK.

He really is a huge player for Wolves, and Lemina clearly has a lot for respect for his midfield colleague.
