Many Wolves fans will love what Gary O’Neil has posted on social media as he jets off on holiday

Wolves fans are expecting big things this summer, and many fans will appreciate the amusing latest post on Instagram from manager Gary O’Neil.

Wanderers finished 14th in the Premier League in 2023/24, and there was a feeling of disappointment with the way the campaign ended.

Wolves won just one of their last 10 league games to finish on 49 points, which is the club’s third-lowest tally since returning to the top-flight. Injuries really crippled the squad, and there were also several decisions that went against Wolves.

The season ended with a bit of a whimper and seemingly a lot of frustrated fans were glad it ended when it did.

Gary O’Neil will be looking to build on things for next season and there will be a lot going on this summer in terms of shaping the squad.

And the manager is seemingly already getting started, despite the 2023/24 season having only just ended…

It is a big summer for Wolves, who are looking to build on 2023/24.

There were very good signs throughout the season just gone, but O’Neil now needs to be given the tools to take this squad to the next level.

A lot of fans don’t hold out much hope that Fosun will back O’Neil in a big way, since they and Jeff Shi seem more concerned with raising season ticket prices.

But hopefully, the manager and sporting director Matt Hobbs can work their magic this season and set the squad up in the best way possible.

O’Neil will certainly work his socks off to make that happen. If there is one thing that has been very clear since he came in at Molineux, it’s that he has a tremendous work ethic – and that was apparent again as he made a brilliant post on Instagram over the weekend.

O’Neil is currently holidaying with his family, but the 41-year-old was keen to ensure supporters that he still has one eye on Wolves.

Uploading a picture on Instagram of himself on a plane with a laptop and tactics board, he wrote: “When @donnaoneil83 says you ready for the holiday 🙈😂 Lovely break with the family coming up but stuff to get done… Blanked out the iPad for anyone looking to zoom in. 😬”

O’Neil’s wife Donna responded in the comments with three ‘eye roll’ emojis.

O’Neil has shown he is well worth backing

This post from O’Neil has gone down quite well with the fans, and it clearly shows that he cares deeply about the project at Wolves.

O’Neil’s work ethic has always been very impressive. Matt Hobbs has previously spoken about his attention to detail and how thorough he is, and that is very reassuring to know. One of the coaches Ian Burchnall suggested last year that O’Neil rarely switches off, saying that he sometimes texts his staff late at night asking for information on the next opponent, even if Wolves have just won.

Between this and the season he just oversaw at Wolves, O’Neil has shown that he is worth backing this summer. Potentially, he could really improve Wolves and get this team back into European football contention.

But whether he gets that backing remains to be seen.

Many fans are furious with Fosun at the moment and feel the owners are not investing in the club as they should. Really, they should be putting their hands in their pockets and not relying solely on player sales and revenues to fund transfers.
