Michael Beale, a man Wolves were keen to hire as their new manager late last year, has been sacked by Rangers after just 10 months in charge.
The Englishman has been relieved of his duties at Ibrox, with the club seven points behind Celtic in the Scottish Premiership.
Rangers also failed to reach the Champions League group stages, losing their play-off to PSV Eindhoven.
A 3-1 home defeat to Aberdeen on Saturday proved to be the final straw for Rangers officials.
Last night, the decision to sack Beale was communicated to fans.
And the news was of particular interest to Wolves fans…
Michael Beale sacked by Rangers… he could have become Wolves manager
Last season, Wolves sacked Bruno Lage at the start of October after a run of poor results. The Portuguese had also lost the dressing room, and he had to go.

Wolves targeted Julen Lopetegui, but were initially turned down by the Spaniard who was dealing with some family issues.
The club then turned to Beale, who was managing QPR at the time.
Wolves wanted Beale, but the 43-year-old ultimately decided to stay put with QPR, given he had only been in charge at Loftus Road for a few months. He said the timing simply wasn’t right.
But Beale then infuriated QPR fans by taking up the Rangers job.
Everything so far suggests Wolves had a lucky escape missing out on Beale
So Beale is now out of a job after just 10 months.
Clearly, his stint there was very disappointing and it looks as though Wolves had a lucky escape by actually being turned down by him.

One wonders – considering his spell at Rangers – if he could have done the job that Lopetegui did at Molineux.
There are probably very few Wolves fans out there who believe he could.
