Wolves’ Mateus Mane is the talk of the town – and a big claim has been made about the youngster.
Mateus Mane starred in Wolves’ 3-0 win over West Ham on Saturday at Molineux, scoring his first goal for the club.
Mane was actually involved in all three goals for the Old Gold, and has come in for lots of plaudits since the result was confirmed.
Do you agree with Jermain Defoe about Mateus Mane? 🔥
The teenager has been a breath of fresh air…
Alan Shearer was quick to praise Mane after his showing against the beleaguered Hammers.
Then, Jermain Defoe insisted Mane looks like he’s been at Wolves for years, such is his quality, maturity and confidence.
It has felt like the obvious next step for Wolves is to tie Mane down to a new contract.
But it turns out, this has already happened.
Mateus Mane signed new Wolves contract that was never announced

Fans absolutely love Mane for the impact he has made.
It’s as though he has breathed new life into the team, and as Edwards suggested, his energy is infectious.
Mane is a player who is currently giving fans hope, not just for the present, but the future too.
And it looks as though Mane will be a part of Wolves’ future in the longer term, with The Athletic reporting that the teenager actually signed a deal that keeps him at the club until 2029.
Mateus Mane is said to be contracted to Wolves until 2029, not 2027! Thoughts, Wolves fans?
It's been claimed today that Wolves tied him down to an extended deal when he turned 18 👀
Their report read: “Wolves revealed in July that their academy forward had signed his first professional deal, but Football Association rules on contract lengths for U18s meant that initial agreement ran only until the conclusion of next season.
“What subsequently went unannounced is that Wolves tied the talented forward down to an extended deal, on improved terms, when he turned 18 on September 16. So at the end of this season, he will still have three years remaining at Molineux, with the possibility of further offers if he continues to impress.”
A major boost for Wolves
If Mane really is tied down until 2029 then that is a huge relief.
Wolves have made countless questionable decisions in recent years regarding players, but it looks like the club have been smart over the most exciting talent to come from the academy in years.

Undoubtedly, Mane will be attracting interest in 2026, given his talent and potential.
So the fact that he’s on a fairly long contract puts Wolves in a strong position.
Relegation is still a likely outcome this season, but the club at least won’t have to worry about Mane only having a year left on his deal.
