‘Maintain standards’: 30-year-old says he’s actually helped to create a new fines list at Wolves

Dan Bentley has revealed that he and some other players have created a new ‘fines list’ at Wolves.

The Molineux number two only arrived at Molineux in January, but is establishing himself as an authoritative figure at the club.

Wolves lost a lot of leaders this time last year.

The likes of Romain Saiss, Willy Boly, John ruddy and Conor Coady all made their exits, and Wanderers suffered as a result.

Steps were taken in January to address this.

Six new players came in, including four experienced stars in Craig Dawson, Mario Lemina, Pablo Sarabia and Bentley.

And Bentley is really showing now that he is a fine leader.

He has said that he and a few other players in the ‘leadership group’ at the club have created a new fines list at Wolves.

He said: “Along with the rest of the boys in the leadership group, I’ve set up a fines list and there will be fines this year.

“Nobody wants to be fined and nobody wants to fine anybody. But it’s a good thing to maintain standards, accountability and responsibility for all our actions.”

It is not clear who exactly is in that leadership group. But you would imagine it’s the most experienced players, like Raul Jimenez, Max Kilman, Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo and some of the January recruits.

Bentley spoke about the fact that Wolves have already lost two leaders in Ruben Neves and Coady.

Clearly, there is a conscious effort to show leadership following their exits.

Bentley also states that he and some of the other senior players are tasked with ‘police the changing room’ to ensure high standards.

Dan Bentley comments paint an encouraging picture of Wolves behind the scenes

These are some fascinating comments from Bentley, who seems to have stepped into the ‘John Ruddy role’ with ease.

Seemingly, the dressing room is in a very healthy place right now.

To hear from Bentley that he and some of the others have made a fines list is brilliant.

It just helps to create a cohesion and a togetherness at the club.

It is important that everyone is on the same page and everyone understands the ethos and values at the club.

Bentley himself is looking like an inspired addition to the club.

He may have only played a couple of times for Wolves. But his conduct off the pitch has been nothing short of exemplary up to now.
