Fabio Silva featured for Rangers today in the Old Firm derby match against Celtic – and the loanee from Wolves did not have a particularly good outing.
Silva joined the Gers on loan from Wanderers for the rest of the current season, with the move being sanctioned at the very start of the January transfer window.
Gary O’Neil did not really have use for Silva, and was more than happy to let him go.
That is a decision that is now being scrutisned by some, with Wolves having been hit by injuries to key trio Hwang Hee-chan, Pedro Neto and Matheus Cunha.
So far, Silva has made 15 appearances for Rangers.
His latest came today against their bitter rivals Celtic – and the youngster was criticised for his showing at Ibrox…
Wolves striker Fabio Silva branded ‘really, really poor’ for Rangers against Celtic by pundit Kris Boyd

Today, Rangers hosted Celtic in a pulsating game at Ibrox.
The game finished 3-3 and the hosts came from behind twice, with Rabbie Matondo scoring late on to rescue a point for them.
The draw sees Celtic remain just one point ahead of their rivals at the top of the Premiership, but the Light Blues do have a game in hand.
There was a start for Silva today. But the 21-year-old unfortunately did not have a particularly good game – and his theatrics in the game have brought him a fair bit of criticism today on social media.
The Portugal youth international has been accused by many of throwing himself to the ground multiple times in the contest. He did win Rangers’ penalty which led to their first goal of the game. Silva was initially booked for diving, but VAR overturned the on-field decision and awarded Rangers a spot-kick, which James Taverier scored.
As per Sofascore, he had a couple of shots on target.
Former Rangers striker Kris Boyd was on commentary for Sky Sports, and said of Silva: “Fabio Silva has been really, really poor and some of his antics have been a disgrace as well, rolling about.”
He was taken off by Rangers manager Philippe Clement on 69 minutes and replaced by eventual goalscorer Matondo.
Silva needs to cut out theatrics
It is disappointing to hear that Silva has been indulging in the theatrics again.
This is something that Wolves fans have also seen from the youngster, and it is just not a good look.
The starlet – who opened the door to joining Rangers permanently last month – has the potential to be a good player, but he needs to pack this in. Because ultimately, it doesn’t help him or his teammates, and can even lead to his own fans getting on his back.
There is a player in there. But Silva needs to start putting more emphasis on improving and stop getting caught up in the theatrics.
