Liam Keen shares what could happen with Wolves’ hierarchy after Domenico Teti exit

Domenico Teti is likely not going to be remembered too fondly by Wolves fans, and his recent exit from the club may now prompt change.

Wolves sacked Vitor Pereira recently after he oversaw a dismal start to the 2025/26 season.

Then, just days later, Domenico Teti left Wolves by mutual consent, which was not overly surprising.

While he had been billed as a ‘club hire’, he was linked to Pereira having worked with him at Al-Shabab. Ultimately, his fate was tied to the Portuguese.

Teti had been Wolves’ director of professional football, and he came to the club after a restructure that saw Matt Hobbs leave Molineux.

His sporting director role was dissolved, and Wolves then formed a new leadership team consisting of Jeff Shi, Teti, Pereira, Matt Jackson and Matt Wild, with influence from agent Jorge Mendes and his right-hand man Valdir Cardoso.

With Domenico Teti gone, some have wondered what’s next for Wolves structurally – and Liam Keen has today shed some light.

Most Wolves fans would argue that the summer restructure did not work out for the best.

Indeed, it has been widely suggested that Wolves’ recruitment in the summer of 2025 was the worst since Fosun acquired the club.

Teti and Pereira were at the very forefront of Wolves’ business in that window, and must take a lot of the blame for the current state of the squad.

With Teti gone, it now remains to be seen how the club will respond.

Liam Keen has said on the most recent E&S podcast that another restructure could take place eventually, although nothing is imminent for now.

He said: “I think they have to bring someone in. You’ve only got essentially one person there with actual sort of sporting expertise in Matt Jackson, if you will. Does he have the right experience for that role? I think it’s questionable. I think you have to have someone in there that is going to add to the group.

“Matt Jackson is going to still be a key part of that. You’ve got Matt Wild. Jeff, of course.

“In terms of the actual football expertise, it’s just Matt Jackson now. He’s the person that’s there, he’s always been a key figure in that leadership team anyway. But I think you have to add to that.

“It has to be a structure that is well communicated and makes sense. It has to be a leadership group and the person who does come in has to be challenging and look at certain decisions and question them.

“We’re not expecting any change (to the restructure) imminently. The long term answer is, I suspect they will look at restructuring moving forward. How that’s going to work is anyone’s guess.”

2025 summer restructure could prove to be Fosun’s worst-ever decision at Wolves

The make-up of the Wolves hierarchy is going to be something worth keeping an eye on following Teti’s exit.

Matt Jackson is now the most senior football executive at the club, but it seems Wolves are not opposed to an external appointment after Teti’s departure. Maybe the sporting director role previously held by Hobbs will be restored.

Following Wolves’ horrendous start to 2025/26, it’s hard not to look at restructure and think of it as anything other than a disaster.

Pereira and Teti had a lot of power, and between them they have created potentially the worst squad we’ve at Wolves since the club’s return to the Premier League in 2018.

They’ll likely turn around and point to restrictions from Fosun in terms of spending.

Fosun should perhaps have invested more, but what is certainly not in doubt is that the actual recruitment model, which puts a big focus on signing younger players, is to blame for Wolves’ mess.
