Rob Edwards has an almighty job on his hands, but Lee Naylor reckons the new Wolves manager will definitely make one very positive change in particular.
Rob Edwards could not get off to a winning start at the weekend in his first game against Crystal Palace.
Wolves lost 2-0 to Palace at Molineux, with Edwards feeling a lack of confidence contributed to the defeat.
Are you confident Rob Edwards will help Wolves avoid relegation?
Wolves struggled to lay a glove on Palace, who worryingly did not need to be at their best to get three points.
The nature of the defeat hammered home the notion that Wolves’ squad just doesn’t have enough quality at the moment. The effort is there, but unfortunately the quality isn’t.
We will see what Wolves can do in January to potentially rectify this.
But for now, Edwards will need to call on his man management skills to bring about positive change.
And Lee Naylor predicts he will successfully do one thing.

Lee Naylor predicts Rob Edwards will fix Wolves’ mentality issue

There are many problems for Edwards to fix at Wolves.
On the pitch, Wolves aren’t scoring enough and conceding too many – so there needs to be improvement at both ends.
But Wolves have also really struggled from a mentality perspective.
When Wolves have fallen behind in games this season, there is never a strong sense that Wolves can get back into the game.
But Naylor reckons this will change under Edwards.
He said on Matchday Live Extra: “We’ve got to have the belief of ‘Ok, that’s gone in, let’s go and get our goal, let’s get back into this game’. That’s the mentality Rob’s got to change around the place. And I think he will.
“Honestly, I do. He’s very positive in the way he does things. He gets people onside. That’s a massive trait of his. And I think it will just be a matter of time.”
An important week for Edwards
Edwards did not have the most ideal preparation for the Palace game.
He was missing a number of players due to the international break, and that cannot have been particularly helpful coming in as a new manager.
Edwards now has everyone back and this week will be crucial for him in terms of working on tactical plans, but also strengthening his bond with the players. Both as a group and individually.
Jeff Shi and Rob Edwards hatch a plan
He’ll likely also be trying to hammer home that message that Naylor talks about.
As we know Edwards is a man who’s all about hard work and resilience, and he will desperately want this to rub off on all of his players.
