Former Wolves defender Lee Naylor has called Joao Gomes’ performance against Chelsea ‘outrageous’.
Wanderers are now seven points clear of the relegation zone, following the 2-0 win over Brentford.

Julen Lopetegui’s side are breathing a little easier now, after a fantastic past couple of results.
Before the win over Brentford, Wolves beat Chelsea 1-0 at Molineux – and after the game, most of the talk was about two Wolves players in particular.
Matheus Nunes scored one of the goals of the season with a Marco van Basten-esque volley.
And many were blown away by Gomes, who seemed to win the ball back every few minutes against the Blues.
He was absolutely everywhere, and did not allow Chelsea’s midfielders any time to play.
It was a performance that really caught people’s attention.
And Naylor had a positive word for him on Saturday.

He said (via Wolves official): “He was outrageous in the Chelsea game, he blew me away. I thought there was six or seven Man of the Matches, but I thought he put the tackles in that people don’t like doing.
“You always say in the dressing room that they’re the unsung heroes, the ones that don’t get the accolades that the centre forwards get, but for me he was the standout against Chelsea.”
Gomes will have definitely given Lopetegui a headache with his last two performances.
Ruben Neves will be available for selection again this weekend against Leicester City.
A debate is taking place among Wolves fans as to whether the captain should come straight back into the team, or Gomes should keep his place.
Joao Gomes’ performance against Chelsea is up there with the best by any Wolves player this season
Gomes was so, so good against Chelsea. Even though the Blues have been struggling, their team is still packed with quality players, especially their midfield.
But that did not matter to Gomes, who completely dominated.

His display was one of the best by a Wolves player this season. It is right up there with Mario Lemina’s in the 3-0 win over Liverpool.
He is going to be a special player, and his partnership with Lemina does suggest the future of the Wolves midfield is in good hands.
