Lee Naylor points out the positive differences Rob Edwards has ‘100%’ brought to Wolves

Lee Naylor believes Rob Edwards has made improvements at Wolves despite the run of consecutive losses he has picked up.

It was another valiant effort from the Old Gold in the 2-1 loss to Liverpool, but as the tale of the tape has gone all season, the opposition just had more quality than them.

Tolu Arokodare insists Wolves are finally starting to click and that they are becoming a cohesive unit in the Nigerian’s post-match comments.

Arokodare certainly deserves praise for his performance, and he has been one of many, alongside Mateus Mane, who have improved, or made a difference under the new head coach.

However, Lee Naylor has noticed more improvements on the other end of the pitch.

Should Rob Edwards listen to Arne Slot and play two up?🤔

If not… what should he do?

Lee Naylor on how Rob Edwards has positively made a difference at Wolves

With Rob Edwards losing the first seven games as Wolves head coach, you might be hard-pressed to find any positives.

Losing that number of games is simply unacceptable, but the issues that have led to that run of losses predate the arrival of Edwards.

Now, Lee Naylor has insisted that the head coach has made a difference since joining the club after Vitor Pereira’s dismissal.

Naylor said (via Wolves Matchday Live), “Rob has come in, and I have seen differences 100%. I have seen us assured at the back, and he has made us more confident in that aspect. We were letting set pieces in here, there and everywhere at the time, and now he has people at it to a certain degree.

“But we are just making silly little mistakes here and there and getting punished for it. The levels of people running have gone up; they are running more and working harder, so he has to get that base before he does the next thing.”

As difficult as it may be right now, pick out the one positive you have found from Wolves’ season.

We are going with Mateus Mane, who looks to be given more minutes this campaign.

Rob Edwards has instilled the basics; now it’s time for some risk at Wolves

Wolves are better in the basic areas, as Lee Naylor points out. They work hard, they run more, but the results have yet to follow.

That is because there are very few in this squad who are capable or willing to take a risk in a game to create something.

Everything is way too passive in attack, and that is why the Old Gold struggle to score goals. Santiago Bueno being Wolves’ top Premier League goal scorer is not something to be proud of.

He is a centre-back, and the attacking players need to step up and start delivering.

The freshness added by Mateus Mane, even if the winger needs to improve his decision-making, has been a welcome addition, and despite him being 18 years old, the rest of the team need to take note.
