Lee Naylor disgusted by what he saw just before second-half started in Wolves 1-3 Leeds

Wolves are in big trouble at the moment having lost their first five Premier League games – and Lee Naylor was left fuming by one thing he saw on Saturday.

Wolves remain rooted to the bottom of the Premier League table and without a point.

There was brief joy at Molineux on Saturday when Ladislav Krejci put the hosts ahead after eight minutes.

But Wolves then bizarrely sat off their opponents and invited Leeds to attack. The visitors would then score three goals, with Wanderers defending abysmally.

Pundit Danny Murphy slammed Wolves’ defending against Leeds and right now, the backline looks as jittery as it did under Gary O’Neil last term.

Ultimately, Wolves just didn’t show enough quality against Leeds.

But Lee Naylor dropped a damning verdict after seeing something just before the second-half got underway.

Sometimes, a football team can lose a game because the opposition were just better.

Most fans can accept that, but what many will never accept is when it feels like some people are not trying.

At times against Leeds, the optics were poor and some players looked like they didn’t want to know.

And this was evident just before the second-half got underway at Molineux on Saturday, with Lee Naylor clocking how both sets of players came back onto the pitch.

Naylor raged on Matchday Live Extra: “Everything was wrong.

“Even when they were coming out for the second-half, I tapped Thommo (Andy Thompson) on the shoulder and I went ‘Look how they’ve come out there’. Everyone had their head down, walking slow.

“Leeds came out, sprinting, doing sprints, getting themselves ready to the second-half. That tells me everything I need to know.

“You go and have your chat at half-time and then surely there’s something got to come from there that you come out in the second-half and you sprint.

“Every time I came out for the beginning of a match, after half-time, I’d be sprinting. I’d be getting myself right at it for that whistle going. Not one of them did, not one.”

Worrying signs vs Leeds

The Wolves players were probably shell-shocked after Leeds came roaring back from 1-0 down.

But Naylor’s passionate rant will strike a chord with a lot of fans. Even when things aren’t going well, it’s important to at least try and look like you believe you can turn things around.

And a turnaround was very possible – Leeds were only two goals in front.

But seemingly no one was ready to try and set the tone ahead of that whistle blowing for the second-half, which is really worrying.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has admitted the mood in the dressing room is bad after the defeat to Leeds, but it’s absolutely vital now that they all stick together, show some fight and do not give up.
