Lee Naylor blown away by just how good ‘incredible’ Wolves star was vs Man Utd

Wolves have enjoyed a memorable Christmas period under new manager Vitor Pereira after clinching a 2-0 victory over Manchester United on Boxing Day.

Wolves’ three points against Ruben Amorim’s men moved them out of the relegation zone ahead of their trip to Tottenham on Sunday.

It completely contrasts their fortunes under Gary O’Neil, who was sacked after winning just two of his first 16 Premier League matches.

Supporters have gone from experiencing a nightmare to living a dream, with Pereira making history against Man United, becoming the first Wolves manager in 47 years to win his first two top-flight matches.

Matheus Cunha was largely responsible for their latest win, scoring and assisting at Molineux, but another star drew some impressive plaudits.

Lee Naylor lauds Andre as ‘incredible’ vs Man Utd

The Wolves squad have been completely galvanised under their new manager. Cunha has praised the new energy Pereira has brought, and it has been evident across the pitch.

Indeed, the £21m signing Andre is one player who has benefitted from Pereira arriving, with the Brazilian starring alongside Joao Gomes.

Andre blew away Wolves fans with his performance against Man United while Lee Naylor joined supporters in praising the 23-year-old.

Speaking Matchday Live Extra, Naylor said: “Yeah, my first thought of Andre was this boy is going to be top for us. I can see him producing performances, match-winning performances.

“Tonight was one of them. Like you guys, you voted for your man of the match against Leicester and he was your guy. And I thought he was close, like even par or a close second to Rodrigo Gomes.

“But that performance out there tonight was incredible. The way he battled for everything. He was running to the byline. He was tracking down strikers. He was tracking down defenders. He was tracking down midfielders.

“He was absolutely everywhere. And you know, that’s what you got to do. To get out this mess, that is exactly what you need.”

Andre stats va Man Utd

It’s the second time in a few days that the all-action midfielder has been praised, as Andy Thompson dubbed Andre ‘exceptional’ against Leicester.

He operated in a double pivot next to Gomes and the Brazilian international recycled possession well while pressing ferociously to win the ball back.

Andre was the beating heart for Wolves in the middle of the park, and the statistics paint a positive picture of his influence on the match.

Remarkably, the former Fluminense star looks like a star reborn under Pereira and he’ll be hoping for a similar display of midfield excellence against Tottenham.
