Lee Naylor believes one Wolves star deserves all the credit in West Ham win, it’s not Mateus Mane

In Wolves’ 3-0 win against West Ham, it was Mateus Mane who rose to the occasion to propel his side to victory.

The young talent was involved in all of the action. He brilliantly set up Hwang Hee-chan who then produced an excellent cutback for Jhon Arias to score.

Mateus Mane would then win the penalty that Hee-chan scored to put the Old Gold two goals to the good.

Then it was not long after that Mane found the net for the first time as a Wolves player, as he slotted away a powerful strike against Alphonse Areola.

How good can Mateus Mane become at Wolves?👏🏻

The 18-year-old was simply unplayable, which accrued plaudits from Premier League legends. Jermaine Defoe gave Mane a major compliment, and the competition’s all-time top scorer, Alan Shearer, joined in on the praise.

However, Wolves legend Lee Naylor believes it was not Mane who won the Wanderers the match against West Ham, but another player instead.

It might seem strange to suggest that it was not Mateus Mane who was the man of the match against West Ham, but that is exactly what Lee Naylor has appeared to do.

Instead, he believes that Hwang Hee-chan was the catalyst for the fantastic day and result at Molineux.

Hwang was certainly exceptional, and the South Korean’s performance should not go unnoticed, and in Lee Naylor’s mind, it has not.

Speaking on the Official Wolves Podcast, Naylor said, “I think he [Hwang Hee-chan] is the reason we have won this game. Just because of his positivity in that first half and how we stretched the game with his actions.

“He is getting on the ball, and he is getting forward. Weeks before this, his first thought would have been, ‘I am going back.’

Has that Hwang Hee-chan performance changed your perception about the South Korean?

He rolled back the years with that display 🔥

Wolves have been boosted by the fact that Rob Edwards is positive about Hwang’s injury concern, but he may still be a doubt to face Everton.

The Asian attacker had to be taken off in the second half due to a calf issue, but he has admitted how much he loves playing under Rob Edwards.

Hwang Hee-chan scored against Everton earlier in the season

In the reverse fixture this season, Hwang Hee-chan got on the scoresheet for the Old Gold against the Toffees, and if fit, he will be looking to inflict the same damage.

While in that game the Wanderers lost 3-2, they did get revenge a few weeks later by knocking out Everton in the Carabao Cup. There is certainly every chance Wolves can make it two wins in a row.

If Hwang Hee-chan is not fit, it will be a blow, especially as he appears to be entering a purple patch.

Losing out on an in-form attacker is not ideal, particularly as a win against Everton on Wednesday could change the perspective of the relegation fight.
