Rob Edwards joined Wolves with the club still hoping to turn the season around and stay in the Premier League, but former Aston Villa man Lee Hendrie believes there is another reason for his appointment.
The Old Gold are at the rock bottom of the Premier League, and signs are no doubt pointing towards dropping down to the Championship.

The Opta supercomputer has painted a bleak picture for Wolves, and the Wanderers could be in danger of breaking Derby’s lowest points tally.
The task at hand for Rob Edwards looks almost insurmountable, but crazier things have occurred in football, and fans will no doubt be fully behind their new head coach from minute one.
However, even if things do not go as planned in the relegation fight, there has been a suggestion that Edwards’ arrival was already made with that in mind.
Are you confident Rob Edwards will help Wolves avoid relegation?
Lee Hendrie believes Rob Edwards will be given a free hit this season for Wolves
Although the international break is on, League One and League Two football are still being played, with Sky Sports running their weekly Soccer Saturday programme for the games.
Before the games kicked off, the panel were asked about the current situation at both Wolves and Middlesbrough, and former Premier League midfielder Lee Hendrie gave his view on Rob Edwards making the switch to Molineux.
Speaking on Sky Sports’ Soccer Saturday, Hendrie said, “I think he is on a bit of a hiding to nothing; I really do feel like he’s on a hiding to nothing because I think they will stick to the process, knowing that if we do get relegated, Rob has experience at getting promotion out of the Championship. And that is where I think you have to balance it.
“Personally, I think there would have been a conversation of some form; otherwise, what’s the point of bringing a manager in? With the results not going for you and the percentage of staying in the league going against you, what’s the point in doing that?
“You may as well try to get a Mourinho in to try to stay up or do something different, but I think long-term Wolves are looking at the bigger picture. Obviously though, if you are losing 10-0 every game, there will be pressure.”

Rob Edwards was handed a three-year deal, so that is perhaps what the hierarchy were believing when they appointed him as head coach.
However, while that could be the case, focus should still be on the current season rather than looking ahead to the next campaign.
It is still too early to be thinking about the Championship
Although things look bleak, it is still only November, and any suggestions of Championship football next season should be held off at least for another few months.
There is plenty of football to play, and if Wolves want to have any chance of pulling off this remarkable turnaround, they’ll need both the players and fans to believe it can be done.
After the performances this season, that may be easier said than done, but with a new era underway, the best that supporters can do is keep some hope within themselves.
Rob Edwards’ first interview as Wolves boss
The relegation fight is far from over, and while there is a chance to climb out, belief must remain.
Rob Edwards will no doubt echo that sentiment throughout his training sessions ahead of Crystal Palace and Edwards has already been spotted meeting a few Wolves players.
