Wolves’ newest centre-back Ladislav Krejci has gotten off to a great start at his new club.
Following his arrival from Girona, Ladislav Krejci has looked like one of the best bits of business from Wolves’ busy window.
Krejci was named Player of the Month for September following a string of performances where Wolves have looked far more solid at the back.
The strong start has earned Krejci the admiration of Wolves fans, who are relieved to see the biggest signing of the summer settle quickly. But the Czech defender has a concern that he says Wolves will have to address when they return from international duty.
Ladislav Krejci concerned by recent late slips
As much as fans will be encouraged by the improved displays from Vitor Pereira’s side, Wolves are still without a win in the Premier League.
They came painfully close in each of the last two games, but weren’t able to see out the result.
Featuring on the Wolves website, Krejci explains his frustration, saying: “It’s a big frustration because again we were very close to the win, for the second time in a row. We made a good start, and were good for the first half, we scored a goal, and we had the game under control.
“But after a lapse in concentration, or I don’t know what it was, because we need to go until the end. It cannot happen like this because we’ve lost four points in the last two matches. But we know what we need, and this is what we want to change.”

Krejci has hit the nail on the head with that statement. Wolves cannot afford to drop points from winning positions. It’s too rare an opportunity, especially in a game like Spurs away.
Two points could be the difference between survival and relegation come the end of the season, and Wolves need to hold onto that kind of result rather than squander it late.
Vitor Pereira has to take some of the blame
Pinning blame on the manager feels counter-productive at this moment in time.
Pereira has had to manage a significant turnover at the club this summer, and it’s clear he is coming to grips with the side more and more each game. He has also just signed a new contract, showing that Wolves back him to turn their fortunes around.
He absolutely has it in him to do so.
But he’s not immune to criticism. Some of the recent substitutions have been confusing. He has reacted too quickly at times, and has left his attack blunted for the sake of shoring up at the back. That hasn’t been working.
Wolves need to be more aggressive when leading games, and that often starts with the in-game decisions made by the coach.
