Wolves have enjoyed some recent success in the transfer market, one move that hasn’t paid off yet, however, is Tommy Doyle’s Molineux arrival.
Joining from boyhood club Manchester City, the midfielder was expected to make a big impact at Wolves following impressive loan spells at Cardiff City and Sheffield United.
The 23-year-old, though, has failed to make his mark at Molineux, with Vitor Pereira not rating Doyle’s performances in gold and black.
Doyle is now fighting for his future at the club and looks likely to depart this summer, with Championship clubs interested in the Wolves man.
But before Pereira makes any decision on the midfielder’s future, he may want to listen to what his previous Man City teammates have had to say.

Kyle Walker rates Tommy Doyle very highly
Pereira is concerned by Doyle’s limitations, with the Portuguese boss having doubts over the 23-year-old’s ability to play in a midfield two.
This area of weakness, however, may be something that Doyle can overcome at Molineux, with Kyle Walker suggesting the midfielder has the mentality to do so.
Speaking after Manchester City’s FA Cup win over Swansea City back in February 2021, the England right-back sang the praises of Doyle (via MEN)
“Tommy, what a great player,” said Walker.
“And a good lad as well. An exciting talent, he wants to learn and it’s a pleasure working with him.
“I’ve seen plenty of kids come through the ranks at numerous clubs with a chip on their shoulder but he’s very good and very down to earth.”
Loan move is best option for Doyle this summer
With Pereira seemingly not fancying the 23-year-old, it may be best for the Wolves midfielder to go out on loan this summer in search of some more game time.
Doyle, for example, has only clocked up three league starts all season, with Andre and Joao Gomes dominating the midfield spots this season.

Man City’s hefty sell-on clause for Doyle stands at 50%, something that would no doubt deter Wolves from making a permanent sale this summer.
So with that being said, the best option for the midfielder seems to go out on loan, with a temporary switch to a newly-promoted club presenting itself as a wise decision.
