Maximilian Kilman has praised Nathan Collins, with the pair lining up together in a back four against Besiktas on Saturday.
The stars were featuring in a partnership against the Turkish giants in Wolves’ penultimate pre-season game of their trip to Alicante.
Wolves ran out 3-0 winners in the end, giving a very exciting performance that was full of attacking intent.
It was the second time Bruno Lage had named a 4-3-3 formation.
Days earlier he had used the system against Deportivo Alaves, which resulted in a 4-0 win for Wolves.
Collins had started on the bench for that game, but he started in a two with Kilman against Besiktas – and they looked pretty solid together.
Wolves are set to use a back four this season, with Lage having recently ditched back three training sessions altogether.
It would appear Collins and Kilman are the favourites to start in that particular system.
And Kilman has been left impressed by his potential partner so far.
He told the Express & Star: “It was really good (playing with him) and he’s settled in really well.
“He’s a very good lad and a very good player as well, as we can see. It’s great to have him here.
“He’s a really good player and experienced as well, for his young age. He knows what he’s doing.”
Kilman and Collins could be the future for Wolves
Wolves have been solid defensively since being back in the Premier League.
But sometimes there is need for change, and it looks as though we could finally get to see a back four this season. Or at least a back four on a fairly regular basis.
Kilman and Collins looked very good against Besiktas, and they could be a really strong duo going forwards.
Collins has clearly already made a good impression on Kilman and, that bodes well for their budding partnership.
