Ki-Jana Hoever admits he felt let down by Wolves at Molineux

Ki-Jana Hoever’s career at Wolves has not gone perhaps how he would have liked since making the move from Liverpool in 2020.

The defender has yet to truly stake his claim among the club’s first team and has had sporadic opportunities so far.

At 23 years old, Hoever still has plenty of football left in him, but so far, it has not worked out at Molineux.

Currently, he is battling against Matt Doherty and Jackson Tchatchoua for the right wing-back role. With Doherty receiving glowing praise after his displays vs Arsenal.

And that competition could increase when Rodrigo Gomes comes back from injury.

While he has not hit the levels expected of him yet, Hoever has given an insight into his time at the club, admitting there was a point when he felt let down by Wolves.

If Wolves had to start one at right wing-back, who actually deserves it: Doherty, Tchatchoua, or Hoever?

All three have started under Rob Edwards.

Ki-Jana Hoever has never played more than 12 Premier League matches for Wolves since signing back in 2020.

So far this season, he has made seven appearances, and it looks like he could surpass that total. However, in the player’s mind, he will want to be given many more minutes.

The defender’s time at the club has been marked by four different loan moves, and Hoever has made a recent admission on how he felt about the Old Gold at that time.

Speaking to Wolves ahead of facing Brentford, Hoever said, “Just before I left here to go on loan, I was at a really low point. As a player, the best thing you can feel is to be trusted by the people around you, the coach and the club, but before I left, I did feel that I had been let down.”

The right-back goes on to explain how he knows he may not be the best professional, but that he feels every player deserves respect.

However, that is something he did not feel at the time, stating, “I just feel like we should all respect each other in some type of way, and I didn’t feel that at the time. I feel misunderstood in a lot of things.”

The 23-year-old has been a player that divides opinion. His performances have not made much impression on supporters.

However, he could be given another chance vs Brentford due to one player being close to suspension.

Ki-Jana Hoever insists Wolves are not giving up ahead of Brentford task

Many supporters already feel doomed to relegation, and with just two points from 16 matches, can you really blame them?

However, at the club, Hoever insists that mentality is nowhere to be found, stating, “Don’t give up on us, because we haven’t given up.”

Despite the situation the club are in, the Old Gold faithful still filled out their away allocation at the Emirates last Saturday, and that was in spite of the fact it was an 8pm kick-off in London.

There are no signs from fans that they will stop supporting the players, but Wolves fans are beginning to roll out more protests against the ownership.
