Keith Andrews delivers ‘full circle’ comment ahead of Wolves reunion at Molineux

When Keith Andrews comes to Molineux on Saturday, it will be the first time he has done so as the manager in the opposition dugout.

The Brentford manager has quite a big connection to the Old Gold. Wolves are the club where he began his playing career back in the late 1990s.

Throughout his time at the Wanderers, Andrews had 72 appearances for the club, and he has fond memories of that period.

In his pre-Wolves press conferences, the Brentford boss provided a boost for Wolves via the Bees’ injury update, but he also commented on what a return to where his footballing career began will mean to him.

💭 Agree or Disagree: With Brentford likely missing some key attackers on Saturday, Rob Edwards should go bold and play a back four!

Dango Ouattara is at AFCON, Igor Thiago is a doubt, and Edwards is down a CB in Emmanuel Agbadou…

Keith Andrews is looking forward to coming back to Wolverhampton for the first time as an opposition manager.

The former Irish international has put some big emotions behind Saturday’s game, stating it will be like a ‘full circle’ moment for him.

Having started his playing career at Wolves, Andrews will no doubt want to continue the start of his managerial one with a big three points against his former side. Doing so will provide him with even more fond memories at Molineux.

Andrews said, “It will be nice to go back. I spent nine years as a player there. Really special time. Moved there as a 15-year-old boy. It is a place I really like going back to. I have been back there as a player for opposition teams and as a coach.

“I have also been back as an observer with friends, and when I was with the [Republic of Ireland] national team, I would go there pretty frequently to watch our players playing there, so it is always nice to go back.

“I have a lot of friends that live in the area, so it is a bit of a full circle moment for me. It will be really nice to go back.”

Despite the sentiment, Andrews is a professional, and he will not let any emotions affect his preparations.

However, Wolves could find joy due to Brentford’s terrible away record in the Premier League over the last few years.

Keith Andrews would have been paying attention on Saturday as Wolves almost caused one of the shock results of the season.

The Old Gold produced a fantastic showing against the current Premier League leaders, Arsenal.

The Brentford head coach has admitted he has been watching some of Wolves’ games and does not expect things to be easy.

He said, “It’s going to be a really difficult game. I watched a lot of them this morning and have a decent understanding of how they play, with more detail around exactly what they do. They have a lot of pride in what they’re trying to do. I’m anticipating a really tough game, one we have to be ready for.”

Rob Edwards will be looking for more of the same from their last match, and with that performance providing some pride, it could be enough to boost them to a much-needed three points.

Hopefully, the Wanderers can inflict enough damage onto the Bees, and this can be one time that Andrews feels it was not nice to be back.
