Wolves fans love Matheus Cunha for his incredible footballing ability – but he is also one of the good guys.
It has been another hugely impressive season from the Brazilian, whose contributions are giving Wolves a fighting chance of staying in the Premier League.
Matheus Cunha scored for the fourth game running at the weekend against Bournemouth, taking his tally to 13 for the season.
He is closing on Raul Jimenez’s record for Wolves. The Mexican scored 17 in the Premier League in the 2019/20 season, and few would bet against him surpassing that figure.
Although Vitor Pereira wants Cunha to improve defensively, he’s been outstanding on the pitch in most games he’s played this season.
But Wolves fans know that Cunha is also a brilliant personality and a fantastic human being to boot – and that was on show in a brilliant new video clip the club have released on social media.
Reason for Matheus Cunha’s celebration vs Bournemouth now revealed as Wolves share amazing video

Some will have noticed that after scoring his goal against Bournemouth, Cunha made a ‘J’ gesture during his celebration.
It was unclear why he did that at the time.
But now Wolves have released a new video on their social platforms, and in the days leading up to Saturday’s game, Cunha had gone to visit young Wolves fan Junior.
Cunha gave him gifts, including a signed shirt.
During the video, Cunha asks Junior to choose a celebration for him to do after scoring his next goal. After deciding it should be to gesture with the letter ‘J’, Cunha kept his promise and did it against Bournemouth.
Wolves fans hail Matheus Cunha
On social media, this clip released by Wolves has gone somewhat viral on X, with 1.5 million views on it already at the time of writing.
Fans heaped praise on Cunha for his selflessness, believing the club truly have a gem on their hands and not just in a football sense.
Well done Wolves and Matheus Cunha
This is what it’s all about, and Wolves, the Wolves Foundation and Matheus Cunha deserve enormous credit here.
The club do tend to release these kinds of videos every so often, and they should never stop doing so. Some will remember the video Mario Lemina did with young fan Frazer, which was very heartwarming.
Conor Coady also featured in a video with young Wolves fan Logan a few years ago, with the Wolves Foundation setting up a surprise meeting as part of Anti-Bullying Week.
It was brilliant of Cunha to go and visit Junior and interact with him, and then do the celebration against Bournemouth.
We all know how good a player he is, but it’s clear from this video – and videos previously – that Cunha is one of the good guys in football.
He is a fantastic human being, and Wolves fans will likely adore him even after he has left Molineux.
