‘Just fun’… 18-year-old now admits he finds Premier League football ‘comfortable’ at Wolves

In his breakout season at the club, talented Wolves striker Nathan Fraser admits he finds playing Premier League football comfortable.

At most clubs across the country, there is usually at least one player who breaks out from the academy and makes a name for themselves in the first team.

In the case of Wolves, the precocious talent they have on their hands is 18-year-old Nathan Fraser.

After scoring on his debut in the 5-0 demolition of Blackpool in the Carabao Cup, Fraser has also netted a crucial goal against Brentford at Molineux to take the Wanderers to extra-time in the FA Cup.

Gary O’Neil has since waxed lyrical about the youngster’s potential, claiming he’s unbelievably willing to work in any capacity and gives 150% for the cause in every single match.

Wolves were expected to invest in a new striker in January after sending Sasa Kalajdzic and Fabio Silva out on loan, but a move for one never materialised.

In hindsight, the injury to Matheus Cunha could have left O’Neil regretting not signing a forward, despite their best attempts, but he’s instead placed his faith in Fraser, who could now be in line to play more often in the next few months.

Cunha’s absence has left the Wanderers with just Hwang Hee-Chan and Fraser as two realistic options to lead their line and having played 45 minutes in the 2-0 defeat to Brentford, the teenager could earn himself more minutes against Tottenham this afternoon.

Nathan Fraser is ‘comfortable’ playing Premier League football

Although being thrust into the Premier League at a young age could be daunting to some youngsters, it’s an opportunity that Fraser is relishing.

Speaking on the Wolves Express, an official Wolverhampton Wanderers podcast, he said: “I love it to be honest. When you come on the pitch obviously it is nerve wracking but you get out there and it’s just fun. It’s just good to be out there, it gives you a lot of confidence when I come on the pitch and I don’t feel like it’s out of my depth.

“When I come on I feel like I can be comfortable and I always improve, keep working hard everyday and I know that I can get to this level.”

Fraser is relishing the opportunity to test himself at the highest level and it’s these experiences that will stand him in good stead for the rest of his career.

After all, he isn’t the only teenage sensation who has dashed onto the Premier League scene this term. Manchester United’s Kobbie Mainoo and Newcastle’s Lewis Miley are the pick of the bunch when it comes to youngsters who have established themselves in the first team.

With Cunha sidelined for the next few weeks, now could be Fraser’s chance to continue showing Wolves supporters why the sky is the limit for his potential.
