Julen Lopetegui praises Nelson Semedo again amid Wolves star's return to form

Julen Lopetegui has praised Nelson Semedo again for his return to form at Wolves.

The right-back has enjoyed a real renaissance over the past couple of months.

The 29-year-old did not start the season very well, having come into the campaign without a pre-season because of injury.

Semedo was often off the pace and was a bit of a liability at times.

His form was a real worry, and there were actually reports of Wolves potentially moving for a new right-back in January.

But since the arrival of Lopetegui at Molineux, Semedo has turned things around.

He was among the nominees for Wolves’ Player of the Month award for February, and was unlucky not to win it.

The £80,000-a-week star looks like the player he was in the first half of last season again. And Lopetegui is delighted with the way he has worked lately.

He said (Express & Star): “He’s showing that he is a good player, above all.

“He loves football and works very hard every day. He is very focused now.

“I can only talk about my experience with him here and we are happy with him.

“All of the players can always do better, the coach too, but are happy with his work.”

Lopetegui clearly rates what Semedo is doing right now. The head coach also praised Semedo at the end of January.

Nelson Semedo warrants praise from Lopetegui – he has been excellent of late

Semedo came in for a lot of criticism in the early parts of the season.

He just didn’t look his usual self at right-back and was being given the runaround at times.

It’s great to see him now getting plaudits and his manager speaking highly of him.

He can still get even better, but Semedo is definitely somewhere near his best again for Wolves.
