The club sacked Bruno Lage at the start of October, and really took their time over naming his successor.

They approached Lopetegui weeks ago only to be turned down initially. They then made a play for Mick Beale, only to be rejected once again.

Last week, reports surfaced that Wolves were back in talks with Lopetegui, and the club have now got their man.

On paper, it is a solid appointment. Lopetegui achieved great things with Sevilla especially, and fans will hope he can turn things around at Molineux.

Lopetegui is known for being quite intense and a really hard worker.

According to The Athletic, the 56-year-old has actually already started to do some work ahead of his official start date next Monday.

Apparently, Lopetegui has been in contact with Wolves analysts, who have sent the new head coach footage of training sessions. He has been assessing how the players work.

He has also been ‘binge-watching’ Wolves games to get a look at his new players.

Lopetegui will no doubt have watched Wolves’ most recent game against Brighton, which they lost 3-2.

There were positive signs against the Seagulls despite the defeat, and the new manager would have been encouraged by the fight.

It is good to read that Lopetegui is already taking steps to ensure he’s ready ahead of his arrival.

In a way, this might actually better than for him to just come in straight away. Although the players could do with a bit of direction.

It’s important that he is well prepared coming in, as it’s a huge job.

Wolves are in a worrying predicament right now, and Lopetegui has a lot to address.

But fans have faith in the Spaniard, who will possibly be at Molineux on Saturday night for the game with Arsenal.
