Wolves fans are a mixture of enraged and frustrated this evening following the club’s 6-2 defeat to Chelsea at Molineux.
Wanderers lost their first home game of the 2024/25 campaign, with a second-half collapse leading to many supporters flooding out of Molineux for the closing stages of the game.
Wolves were all at sea at the back and could not cope with the likes of Noni Madueke and Cole Palmer.
If there is one thing that is evident after today’s game, it is that Gary O’Neil needs backing in the transfer market in the next week – otherwise, it could be a season of struggle. The manager needs a top defender who is experienced.
Wolves’ defenders who played today are coming in for criticism.
But some are also taking aim at goalkeeper Jose Sa, who has now taken to Instagram to send a message.
Jose Sa offers apology to Wolves fans after 6-2 defeat to Chelsea

Wolves are now second-bottom of the Premier League table after two matches, with zero points and a goal difference of minus six.
If O’Neil is going to persist with a back four, then he will surely need an imposing, experienced defender to come in before next Friday’s deadline, with doubts over Craig Dawson’s ability to have a similar workload to last season.
After today’s game, some are also calling for a new goalkeeper.
Jose Sa has actually been linked with an exit from Molineux, with his agent apparently sounding out interest from other clubs earlier this summer.
Wolves have been linked with a possible move for Aaron Rasmdale to replace him.
Sa did not cover himself in any glory today against Chelsea. He was stranded in no man’s land for Chelsea’s second goal by Cole Palmer.
He was nutmegged by Madueke for his second goal, and then beaten at his near post for Madueke’s third.
Sa took to Instagram shortly after the game to offer an apology to the Wolves fans. He said: “Very sad and disappointed with today’s game. To all Wolves fans, thank you for your support and an apology.
Now it’s time to rest, clear our minds and improve for the next game with you supporting us.”
Sa may have played hiss final Wolves game
Sa’s offer of an apology will be accepted by some but shunned by others.
It will now be quite interesting to see what happens with him. Sa could well be leaving the club in the coming days, so he might well have played his final match for Wolves.
It has been reported that some coaches at Wolves have reservations about Sa’s ball-playing ability.
In the games against Arsenal and Chelsea, it has been noticeable to see Sa playing long balls a bit more often than he was doing in games last season.
But he could still leave, and Ramsdale may be his replacement.
