Jose Sa in awe of Wolves midfielder Ruben Neves after Brentford display

Jose Sa has lavished praise on Ruben Neves, after the star helped Wolves to three more points on Saturday.

Neves scored what turned out to be the winner in the 2-1 victory over Brentford, which finished nearly half an hour after it should have due to a number of incidents, including a drone flying over the stadium.

Joao Moutinho got the ball rolling for Wolves, firing into the far corner after a nice one-two with Nelson Semedo.

Ivan Toney then pulled one back for Brentford, which set up a tense finish.

But Neves then put Wolves ahead, curling in an effort of his own from the edge of the box.

It was a fine finish from the 24-year-old, who had returned to the starting XI after missing the win over Southampton.

Neves put in a fine display at the Brentford Community Stadium. And afterwards goalkeeper Sa sang his teammate’s praises.

He said (via Express & Star): “Ruben is a fantastic player, he’s amazing. He’s very young, only 24-years-old, so for me it is a pleasure to play with him again after playing together at Porto.

“Of course, every day he is better and he helps the team a lot.”

Neves is undoubtedly playing some of his best football since coming to the club back in the summer of 2017.

It is looking like he will stay at Molineux after some very brief transfer speculation after his performance against Manchester United.

That would be absolutely ideal, with Wolves fans just starting to think about a potential push for Europe.

Neves was superb on Saturday, especially in the second-half.

With Moutinho also shining next to him, he really has gone to another level this season under Lage.

Wolves are trying to have more of the ball. And that obviously suits a player like Neves, who has a wonderful passing range.

As Sa says, he is amazing and one can imagine he is ‘a pleasure to play with’. And he is probably one of many players in the Wolves squad who think that.
