Jorgen Strand Larsen reveals how Wolves can solve their goalscoring troubles after returning from injury

Wolves have struggled in front of goal this season, failing to find the back of the net in three of their opening four Premier League matches.

Jorgen Strand Larsen looks set to be involved against Leeds United after missing the last two fixtures due to injury.

The striker scored just one goal fewer than Matheus Cunha last season in his debut Premier League campaign.

The 25-year-old is yet to score in his first two Premier League appearances of the season, but came off the bench against West Ham in the League Cup and scored twice to secure a 3-2 victory.

With Wolves desperate to improve their goal output, Larsen has revealed what he believes is the most important factor to help the team find the back of the net on a more consistent basis.

Jorgen Strand Larsen says ‘connections’ with new signings will boost Wolves’ goal output

In the transfer window, Wolves saw several attacking departures, with the likes of Cunha and Pablo Sarabia leaving the club, while Fer Lopez and Jhon Arias were brought in to replace them.

Speaking in an official Wolves interview, Larsen highlighted how linking up with the club’s new signings will be key to increasing his goals this season.

He said: “The most important thing is that I have a good connection with my teammates. Obviously, a few of them left in the summer, big players, but we brought in new, good players.

“We just need to find good connections, and it will obviously take a few games, but we’re making progress every day. Now I’m back training, so it feels good, and hopefully we can turn this bad start into something good.”

Once the forward regains full fitness and builds chemistry with these new players, Wolves should be able to create more clear-cut opportunities and put an end to their poor run in front of goal.

In a previous interview, Larsen drew comparisons between Lopez and Sarabia, suggesting the new arrival could replicate the creativity the club lost this summer.

Wolves’ new forward line will take time to click

Larsen could feature against Leeds, however it is unlikely that he is fit enough to start the contest.

The Norwegian hasn’t had much time to train with fellow forward Tolu Arokodare, who arrived late in the transfer window.

Lopez and Arias are still adapting to the Premier League and therefore it will take time before Wolves’ new attacking players find their rhythm in Vitor Pereira’s system.

Building chemistry will take time, but each training session will help the players understand each other’s movements and instincts better.

As connections develop, Wolves could see a more fluid and potent forward line emerge, giving Pereira plenty of selection dilemmas throughout the season.
