Jorgen Strand Larsen releases statement to fans after Burnley score late winner against Wolves

Jorgen Strand Larsen has spoken out after Wolves conceded a late winner against Burnley and continued their winless run.

Lyle Foster’s late goal sent Burnley eight points clear of the Old Gold.

For Strand Larsen, he finally broke his duck this season, scoring from the penalty spot, and while it was not his greatest performance, having the Norwegian among the goals again was a positive.

However, that may be the only good thing to take away, and fans were furious after the loss.

Both Vitor Pereira and Jorgen Strand Larsen confronted the angry South Bank, and the scenes were ugly following full-time.

The number nine has now commented about the game against the Clarets.

Jorgen Strand Larsen not enjoying being a Wolves player right now

Jorgen Strand Larsen wore the captain’s armband against Burnley in the absence of all of Vitor Pereira’s leadership group.

The Norwegian was interviewed after the game, and the forward was expectedly upset at losing in such fashion.

Larsen said via BBC Match of the Day, “It’s not nice to be a Wolves player or fan right now, and I’m really sorry to everyone out there supporting us. That is why we love and hate this game, and right now we hate it. Sorry to the fans for not being able to give them what they deserve.

“After a slow start, we came back and played good football. We deserved to win today, and it’s just the moment we are in right now.

“We are really sad; it’s one of the worst feelings I’ve had in a long time. The only positive is that there is 29 games more to go, and we need to keep going and believing in ourselves.”

While he says the players need to keep believing, optimism at Molineux may now be hard to find.

Victory against Burnley was a must, and they have just two points after nine matches and remain six points off safety.

Jorgen Strand Larsen says Wolves needed fans to be angry after full-time

While Vitor Pereira did not like the fans jeering and booing after the match, Jorgen Strand Larsen is in a different boat.

He said, “It’s not nice. We don’t want that, but it’s what you need sometimes, to let the frustration out. I was just trying to listen a bit, and we can understand the frustration.”

Wolves will need a big result against Fulham next week with the Cottagers in 17th place. A win would pull them closer to coming out of the drop zone.

However, it remains to be seen what decision is made on Vitor Pereira. If he is still in charge next weekend and does not get a win, it seems difficult to see where the Old Gold go from here.
