Jorgen Strand Larsen provides injury update as Wolves prepare for crucial Brighton clash

Wolves have taken the first step towards turning the season around, but they will need star Jorgen Strand Larsen back at 100% in order to keep the momentum building.

Jorgen Strand Larsen has been dealing with an Achilles issue since the early stages of the season.

Having recently signed an extension with Wolves, the Norwegian will be looking to put the summer’s drama behind him and start scoring regularly again.

He got 45 minutes in the 3-1 loss to Leeds, and 84 against Tottenham at the weekend, but Strand Larsen still isn’t 100%.

Jorgen Strand Larsen admits he’s still struggling with injury

Not the news Wolves fans would have hoped for.

Sitting down for an interview with Norwegian outlet VG, Strand Larsen was asked about his physical fitness ahead of a tough challenge this coming weekend.

He responded: “I haven’t quite got going yet, and I’m struggling today too, unfortunately. I feel like I’m walking with a bit of a limp, and it’s boring.”

Strand Larsen is clearly growing tired of not being at full fitness, wanting to perform to his best level.

He continues: “That’s what happens with minor injuries that last a long time. You want to play because you feel good, but you’re not one hundred percent.

“Then it takes a toll on the game, and I don’t quite get the chances I had last year. It’s boring, but I just have to keep going.”

He feels he is still missing “the last few percent”, and Pereira has been clear about the need to manage Strand Larsen’s minutes. Luckily, Wolves have cover.

Strand Larsen’s slow recovery could be a blessing in disguise for Tolu Arokodare

Arriving late in the window, Tolu Arokodare was thrust straight into action to cover for his fellow striker. He has looked really impressive so far, bagging his first goal against Everton and showing he’s well able for the physicality of the Premier League.

As frustrating as Strand Larsen’s delayed recovery is, it offers Tolu the chance to get starts (and hopefully goals) under his belt.

His form has been promising, and Pereira should look to maximise the Nigerian’s impact and allow the first-choice forward time to recover fully.

Once Strand Larsen is back healthy, Tolu’s minutes could drop considerably. But if he is in a rhythm by that time, it will pay dividends later in the season.
