Jorgen Strand Larsen makes Wolves admission fans will love after controversial defeat to Man City

Wolves are still recovering from the late drama that unfolded at Molineux against Manchester City.

The Old Gold were moments away from securing an impressive point against the champions however, John Stones denied the hosts of a result.

Gary O’Neil’s side conceded a controversial late goal in injury time, seeing the points drift away as Wolves’ losing streak was extended.

It’s back to the drawing board for the manager, who despite suffering a fifth consecutive loss in the Premier League, has a lot of positives to take from the Man City defeat.

Jorgen Strand Larsen reacts to Man City defeat

One of many positives was the performance of summer signing Jorgen Strand Larsen, who scored his third goal of the season against the champions.

In a match that saw him come up against his formidable international teammate Erling Haaland, it was the man in Old Gold who found himself on the scoresheet.

It wasn’t only the striker’s goal that impressed, as the 24-year-old worked tirelessly to make a difference for his team, something that the forward commented on post-match.

Speaking to the media after the defeat, Strand Larsen shared an insight into how he felt after coming off the pitch against City, via Express and Star

“I was so tired when I came off, I couldn’t continue running,” the summer arrival said. “We gave it our all, all of us.”

The Norway international went on to express his commitment to the club and his desire to make an impact regardless of the role he plays.

“I want to be a part of the team, from the goalkeeper to every player that comes from the bench as well. I think that we could have deserved a little bit more.”

It was a positive afternoon for the player who despite being on the losing side once more, was impressive in his approach in the final third.

Wolves should be excited by Strand Larsen’s form

While the City game stood for yet another fixture with no result, Wolves should be encouraged by what was produced at Molineux.

O’Neil watched his side go toe-to-toe with the champions until the final moments, with plenty to take from the game to use going forward.

Strand Larsen’s movement and finish in his goal was one high point, as it becomes increasingly apparent that the Celta Vigo loanee can be the man to fill the void in the number nine role.

It’s been a while since Wolves had a target man to rely on in the box, with O’Neil and Matt Hobbs striking hot in the summer when acquiring Strand Larsen from LaLiga.
