Jorgen Strand Larsen praises former Wolves striker Raul Jimenez after completing transfer

The Norweigan sat down with Wolves’ official website to address the fans for the first time, where he reacted to being handed the number nine shirt.

The former La Liga talisman was quick to mention the legacy of a previous wearer of the number nine, Raul Jimenez, sharing his thoughts on the Mexican.

“It’s an amazing feeling. I’m going to give everything from the first minute. To be wearing that number nine is a huge moment for me and there have been many, many number nines here. The last one was Jimenez and he was amazing here.”

Acknowledging one of the driving forces behind Wolves’ Premier League success since promotion is one way to win over fans, with Strand Larsen sharing his admiration for Jimenez.

As well as appreciating the work of Nuno’s marksman, the 24-year-old shared what it means to wear the number nine.

“I’m really proud to take that number, but I understand that it comes with a lot of hard work, expectation, and important games for me to play, but I’m really looking forward to it and I’m really going to give my everything, and it’s going to be an amazing season, I hope.”

Wolves fans will hope Strand Larsen can provide the Jimenez effect

Having bowed out of Molineux with 80 goal contributions in 166 appearances for Wolves, Jimenez left an unforgettable legacy at the club.

Strand Larsen seemingly understands what it takes to represent Wolves as a number nine, with there now hope that O’Neil can finally unearth his very own goalscorer.

Of course, comparisons between Jimenez and the new arrival won’t be expected although, many will be eager to see if the former Celta Vigo ace can provide a similar presence in attack.

Jimenez’s potency has been sorely missed over the years, with Strand Larsen now arriving as the light at the end of the tunnel in O’Neil’s quest to secure a goalscorer.
