Jorgen Strand Larsen injury timeline given after Wolves’ defeat to Newcastle United

Jorgen Strand Larsen was a major miss against Newcastle United as Wolves once again failed to score.

In three out of four of their Premier League games the Old Gold have come away without hitting the back of the net.

It has become a real area of concern for Vitor Pereira as he awaits his first points of the season.

Strand Larsen’s importance is highlighted by talks of a new deal, and the club have been sweating on his return.

The Portuguese manager has new signing Tolu Arokodare at his disposal, but the Nigerian will have to adapt to the Premier League.

After the defeat, Pereira issued an update on the status of the Norwegian.

Vitor Pereira says Jorgen Strand Larsen’s injury is ‘day by day’

Jorgen Strand Larsen missed Wolves’ last match against Everton, but was called up for Norway suggesting he would be available after the international break.

However, Larsen returned early from the Norwegian camp, and has yet to commence training with the club upon his return.

This meant that Wolves were without their number nine as they travelled to St. James’ Park but a return could be on the horizon.

Speaking after the 1-0 defeat to Newcastle, Pereira provided an update on Strand Larsen.

The manager said that the injury is ‘Day by day, its Achilles tendon, we cannot push, we need to be patient.’

Hope will be that Strand Larsen can return to action in time to face Leeds United in a must-win match.

Wolves are bottom of the Premier League and the fixture against the Whites will be vital for their survival prospects.

Wolves must find solutions up front against Leeds United

With or without Jorgen Strand Larsen, Wolves will need to find ways to score.

In the two games that Larsen has played, the Old Gold failed to score, and that is not down to the Norwegian.

Creating chances has been a real problem for Pereira’s side, and perhaps a run in the team for someone like Fer Lopez could work.

Wolves need to try something new, as what they currently have is clearly not working, and the added creativity of someone like the Spaniard could be a much-needed change.
