Wolves have agreed terms over a new deal with striker Jorgen Strand Larsen, following significant interest from Newcastle United.
The striker joined permanently this summer after his initial season-long loan from Celta Vigo last season.
The news of Larsen’s contract progress comes shortly after manager Vitor Pereira agreed to extend his stay at Wolves, giving the Old Gold a double boost both on and off the pitch.
The Norwegian played a crucial role in keeping the Old Gold in the top-flight last season, scoring 14 goals and notching four assists in 35 Premier League matches.
Larsen pushed for a transfer to Newcastle in the summer due to his age; however he now has his future at Molineux secured.
Jorgen Strand Larsen agrees to new Wolves contract without a release clause
Wolves supporters will be relieved that negotiations have progressed, removing uncertainty around one of the team’s most important players.
Larsen’s new deal ensures the club can focus on improving performances on the pitch without worrying about losing a key asset.

As reported by journalist Liam Keen, the 25-year-old has verbally agreed to extend his stay in the West Midlands without a release clause included in the deal.
The absence of a release clause in the deal is crucial, as it prevents other clubs from forcing a move and allows Wolves to have full control over his future.
Whereas Matheus Cunha’s £62.5 million release clause limited the club’s ability to negotiate a higher transfer fee, forcing the club to accept the set price rather than potentially securing a bigger deal for one of their most valuable assets.
Wolves are struggling without Larsen’s presence
Wolves are clearly missing Larsen, who remains sidelined with an achilles injury.
The club’s talisman missed the last two defeats against Everton and Newcastle and is also a doubt for the upcoming clash against Leeds.
His absence leaves the team without a focal point in attack, with Hwang Hee Chan often unable to hold up the ball on a consistent basis.
Larsen’s threat in behind and presence in the box are key attributes that Wolves have lacked in recent matches.
While the number nine is yet to get up and running in the Premier League, he came off the bench to score a match-winning brace in the 3-2 League Cup win over West Ham.
Larsen’s return appears close, and his presence will be crucial as pressure mounts on Pereira to deliver results and steady Wolves’ season.
