Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson has complimented Julen Lopetegui ahead of tonight’s Premier League game with Wolves.
The teams are meeting for the fourth time this calendar year, with both sides seeking a win at Anfield.
Liverpool are looking to get back into top four contention. While Wolves are hoping to pull clear of the relegation zone.
Wanderers enjoyed a good February, taking seven points from a possible 12.
But things are still very tight down at the bottom of the league, and a victory tonight would be huge.
Wolves beat Liverpool 3-0 in the last meeting, and Liverpool captain Henderson has been reflecting on that game.
The £20 million star has complimented Lopetegui for the way he masterminded that result.
He said (Liverpool official): “I have nothing but respect for what Julen Lopetegui and his players did on that day and it is because of this respect that I know exactly how well we will have to perform if we want to get a better result this time around.”
Lopetegui got things spot on the last time Wolves faced Liverpool.
He went 4-4-2, and deployed Matheus Nunes on the left with Ruben Neves and Mario Lemina in the middle. Lemina operated more defensively, allowing Neves to be more influential further forward.
Julen Lopetegui can outwit Jurgen Klopp again tonight, as Jordan Henderson praises Wolves manager
These are some nice words from Henderson about Lopetegui.
Wolves have given Liverpool three very good games so far this season, so the players should be right up for it tonight.
Liverpool have struggled this season and are not the same scary force as they used to be.
Maybe we will see Lopetegui go with a 4-4-2 again this evening. And if that does happen, hopefully we will see a similar sort of performance to the one at Molineux last month.
