Joleon Lescott makes Rob Edwards to Wolves claim after being linked with coaching return

Everyone seems to have an opinion on Rob Edwards’ move to Molineux, the latest being Wolves-linked Joleon Lescott.

After the Edwards story broke, Molineux News exclusively revealed that Lescott was being eyed for a coaching role at Wolves.

The former Wolves defender has spent time as a coach with the England Under-21s and has a close connection to Molineux, where he played more games than at any other club in his career.

As of now, Lescott’s links to Wolves haven’t progressed since the weekend, but he has chimed in to give his take on the appointment of Edwards as Wolves manager.

Joleon Lescott gives an honest assessment of Wolves and Rob Edwards

As well as delving into the arena of coaching, Lescott has explored a career as a pundit, to great success.

In the latest edition of Premier League Productions’ The Weekend Wrap, Lescott appeared to discuss Wolves’ manager search. While he was tight-lipped about his own future, he had no problem speculating about that of his former teammate.

Asked about his old pal’s frame of mind going into the job, he responded: “Yeah, a good friend, he will believe he can keep them in the league. He has a strong relationship with the club, the fans, some of the players as well.

“It will be a tough ask because they are in a dire situation at the moment, but he will believe he can get them out of it.”

No word on what Lescott believes. His silence on that matter is understandable, with certain things up in the air as it stands.

Belief got Vitor Pereira far enough

As easy as it is to pile misery on the sacked manager, what Vitor Pereira did last season felt magical.

He came in, freshened up the vibe at the club and got a tune out of a squad that was just as awful as this season’s edition.

Edwards can avoid relegation. It is possible, we saw that last season. But that will require a mammoth effort from him, and he will need the players to buy into his philosophy.

No shade on the second tier, but Wolves fans don’t want to see their side in the Championship next season. Not just Edwards. Not just the players. Everyone who dons the Old Gold will have to believe.
