Wolves have had a poor start to season, but Johnny Phillips has been left extremely impressed by one player in Vitor Pereira’s squad.
After seven Premier League games, Wolves still haven’t had a win, and have collected just two points.
Those two points have come in the last two games against Tottenham Hotspur and Brighton, and there has been frustration because it could and should have been six.
Simply put, Wolves must learn to see games out better.
But Vitor Pereira has been encouraged by his players’ confidence of late, and feels they’re doing what he’s asking of them.
Pereira has assured Wolves fans they’ll feel proud of the team again soon, and certainly the next two games offer big opportunities to kickstart the season.
Frustratingly, there have been a lot of underperformers so far this term and many need to step up.
But Johnny Phillips has moved to praise Ladislav Krejci following his summer move from Girona.
Johnny Phillips insists Ladislav Krejci is Wolves’ best player right now

Krejci was Wolves’ penultimate signing of the 2025 summer window and at the time, his arrival did not prompt much excitement.
Some felt it was actually a bit of a needless signing at the time.
But Krejci has quickly shown himself to be a top player, shining in both midfield and defence for Wolves and also demonstrating leadership traits.
Krejci’s brilliance was underlined by Wolves fans voting him as the September Player of the Month, and seemingly he is now in the starting XI to stay.
Like most fans, Wolves-supporting reporter Johnny Phillips has really liked what he’s seen from the Czech international – and paid him a big compliment.
He said on Haway The Podcast: “The Czech centre-half, who can also play in midfield, Ladislav Krejci, looks a fantastic buy. Absolutely fantastic player.
“I think he’s certainly the best player that Wolves have at the moment.”
Krejci a shining light for Wolves
Wolves look to have had a pretty poor summer transfer window, but Krejci has definitely been a superb acquisition by the club.
His start in old gold has been reminiscent of Emmanuel Agbadou last season. The pair play in different ways, but they both had tremendous impacts upon signing and both won Player of the Month at the club at the first opportunity.
Wolves’ defence was all over the place in the first few games of the season.
But Krejci has moved back there and it now looks a lot more solid – and Pereira will surely be keen to keep him in that position.
Krejci’s partnership with Santiago Bueno is looking better by the game, so hopefully the manager will allow them to keep starting together.
