Matt Doherty made some headlines after Wolves’ defeat to Brentford – but he’s been backed by former Premier League goalkeeper Joe Hart.
Wanderers lost 2-0 at home to the Bees, with Keane Lewis-Potter scoring both of the visitors’ goals.
It was another abject display from Wolves, and yet another case of Wolves drawing at half-time before going on to lose.
It is a statistic that is starting to have some fans asking questions of Rob Edwards, who could not have made a worse start in terms of the results.
After the game on Saturday, Matt Doherty came out and delivered some home truths.
He questioned if his Wolves teammates want to be remembered for fighting or being cowardly, suggesting that those looking to leave in January would be the latter.
His honesty saw him come in for praise from Joe Hart on Match of the Day.
Joe Hart praises Matt Doherty for pointed interview after Wolves 0-2 Brentford

One of the biggest flaws with this current squad is that it lacks leaders.
Over the past few years, Wolves have seen captains and top characters and personalities leave, and the current squad is now hollow.
That said, Doherty is perhaps one of a couple who can be seen as a leader – and it’s clear how much he cares as well.
His comments about cowardice were put to Joe Hart on Match of the Day last night, and the former Manchester City and West Ham goalkeeper backed the Irishman.
What do you make of Matt Doherty’s post-Brentford remarks? 🤔
It was an emotionally-charged interview…
He said: “I know Matt on a personal level. I felt for him there. He looked poorly. I wanted to give him a big cuddle.
“On a professional level, you’ve (the players) got to step up. You’ve got to shake it off. You’ve got to stop thinking about you, and your ego. What’s going to happen in January, like he said, and get in the trenches.
“Wolves are in the trenches right now. The least you can do is show fight. Get your shirt on, wear the badge with pride and fight for your supporters and your team. That’s what Matt Doherty’s trying to say there, he’s trying to get his team rallied. Like I said, I want to give him a cuddle. But this is big boy time, you (the players) need to step up.”

Hart is right, Wolves players need to have some shame and pride
It is practically certain Wolves will go down this season – and it is now all about the way in which it happens.
Yes relegation is relegation, but fans are paying a fortune to watch. They deserve to see their team show some fight, given how amazing and loyal their support is.

It was good of Hart to send such a stern message and hopefully the players tuned in and heard what he had to say.
It’s a horrible position for everyone associated with Wolves to be in right now. But those players, ultimately, are the only ones who can do something about it.
And if they can’t, then at least have some shame and pride in trying.
