Joao Moutinho left Wolves last summer – and the veteran has already won his first piece of silverware with his new club SC Braga.
Moutinho was one of several high-profile departures at Molineux.
He left at the end of his contract, alongside Diego Costa and Adama Traore, bringing down the curtain on a five-year stint.
Moutinho was an incredible player for Wolves, coming in for just £5 million in the summer of 2018 after Wolves had gained promotion back to the Premier League.
He made a whopping 212 appearances for the club, and for many, he is one of the greatest players ever to pull on the Wolves shirt.
He was wished extremely well when he left and so, fans will be delighted to hear about what he did this weekend…
Former Wolves ace Joao Moutinho wins his first ever Taça da Liga with SC Braga – and shines in the final

Moutinho is 36 years of age now, but Wolves fans know that he is an extremely fit and durable individual.
Recently, he played his 1000th game as a professional, which is a staggering achievement and a milestone that very few players actually reach.
At the weekend, Braga were actually in the final of the Taça da Liga, which is the equivalent of the League Cup in English football.
Braga were facing Estoril, which is the former club of Toti Gomes and Chiquinho.
The game finished 1-1 after 90 minutes, after goals from Ricardo Horta (Braga) and Cassiano Dias Moreira (Estoril), and so, a penalty shootout was required.
Braga won the shootout 5-4, with Horta, Moutinho, Abel Ruiz, Pizzi and Al Musrati scoring their spot kicks.
Moutinho scoring his penalty capped off a fine evening’s work for him. As per Proxima Jornada on X, he attempted the most passes (102), completed the most passes (93), executed the most passes into final third (16), had the most touches (111), and created two chances.
Prior to Saturday, Moutinho had never won the Taça da Liga in his career. He was a runner-up twice with Sporting CP and once with FC Porto.
Moutinho thriving after leaving Wolves
So Moutinho has won his first team trophy with Braga, and his first team trophy since winning the French league title with AS Monaco back in 2017.
It’s brilliant to see him adding to his cabinet at the age of 36, and especially fantastic to see him posting such fantastic statistics.
Granted, Estoril are not one of the best teams in Portugal, but Moutinho seriously shone in the final, proving that class is permanent.
He’s really thrived since leaving Wolves, making 27 appearances for the club already for a total of 1675 minutes across all competitions. For someone his age, that is extremely impressive going.
Moutinho – described as ‘an amazing player’ in the past by Ruben Neves – has also been able to play in the Champions League again earlier this season, and many Wolves fans will no doubt be delighted to see him enjoying such a good spell.
