Joao Gomes sends ten-word ‘promise’ to Wolves fans as winless run continues vs Crystal Palace

Wolves midfielder Joao Gomes has reacted to the Old Gold’s draw against Crystal Palace at Molineux.

Gary O’Neil continued his side’s hunt for three points on match day 10 as Wolves welcomed struggling Crystal Palace to the West Midlands.

The hosts came from behind to lead 2-1 in the fixture, all for their hard work to be reduced to a point as the Eagles scored an equaliser.

It’s now one win in 20 for Wolves, who are running out of time to turn things around as the season progresses.

Joao Gomes sends message to Wolves fans

The players looked dejected at full time at Molineux, despite the game not ending in defeat.

The squad are aware of the repercussions of their winless streak extending, with Wolves sat bottom of the Premier League table with three points from a possible 30.

After the game against Palace, goalscorer Joao Gomes took to Instagram to make a bold promise to Wolves fans, something that will be appreciated by supporters.

“I’ll go to the last drop of sweat, I promise,” Gomes said in reaction to the draw, with supporters from all over the world showing support for the midfielder in the comments.

The 23-year-old can hold his head high for his display at Molineux, showing the fight required if Wolves are to find a way to turn things around.

Wolves want a similar reaction from Gary O’Neil

Making promises is one thing, but understanding what Wolves’ poor start means with regard to a relegation battle is another.

Gomes held his hands up and committed to fighting until the end for Wolves, which is something that many want to see from O’Neil.

The manager continues to puzzle supporters with his evaluation of matches, with tensions rising during the Palace clash as fans made their frustrations towards the boss clear.

Holding a sense of denial that there is a relegation storm fast approaching is incredibly naive, as the truth is that every game must be regarded as a must-win if belief within the dressing room is to grow.
