Joao Gomes issues rallying cry to Wolves fans after first Premier League point vs Tottenham

Positivity is slowly starting to creep back in at Molineux after Vitor Pereira’s side secured two good results back-to-back.

The Old Gold picked up a promising 2-0 cup win against Everton and followed it up with their first Premier League point of the season in a 1-1 draw against Tottenham.

It was a performance in London that deserved more than a point, but Pereira seems to have refound a key attribute to bring results in.

The Wolves manager believes their time on the training ground is finally showing, and they must continue to perform at the levels they showed against Spurs.

Now, Joao Gomes has posted a message to supporters on social media amidst the upturn in form.

Tottenham’s last-minute equaliser was a real kick in the teeth for Wolves.

They were excellent in London, and they very much deserved to come away with all of the spoils. However, when you face teams with the quality that Spurs have, an undeserved goal is always possible.

Over the last few weeks, Pereira has learnt a lot about his squad. Sam Johnstone has staked an imperious claim to be Wolves’ number one and Jhon Arias is finally starting to show his quality.

There are plenty of reasons for fans to be positive again, and Joao Gomes has now tried to rally the supporters together.

The midfielder posted on his social media channels saying, “I remember last season that we were in the same situation and I said we would get out of this because we are on the right track.

“And yesterday we proved that we found the way; we played well again as a team. Wolves fans, believe in us and support us because it will not be easy and we will only succeed with your support.

“To my player friends who are with me every day, it is a pleasure to work with you. I will always give my best for each of you. Let’s go.”

Joao Gomes and Wolves need to back up their words now

It is all great hearing that things will turn around, and much to Vitor Pereira’s credit, he has found solutions over the last week.

Now, Joao Gomes and the Wolves squad must use the last week as a launchpad for the season. It was not an ideal start to the campaign, but there is still plenty of time to recover.

The promoted teams are much better this season, and that could cause an issue later down the line if more points do not start coming in soon.

However, it has been a good week for the Old Gold, and let’s hope it continues when Brighton travel to Molineux.
