It has been a pretty miserable past few months for Wolves fans, but there is now optimism following the sacking of Gary O’Neil.
Gary O’Neil was fired by Wolves on Sunday, following the defeat to Ipswich Town on Saturday.
It was a decision that some had been calling for the club to make for weeks, but Fosun were clearly reluctant to act.
In the end, they had no choice, and a new dawn will now commence at Molineux.
Vitor Pereira is the man Wolves have turned to in their hour of need, and the Portuguese will be announced imminently.
He has an absolutely huge job on his hands and will need all of the players to buy into him straight away. And one would imagine Joao Gomes will be a player he can count on.
Joao Gomes sends message of defiance as Wolves appoint Vitor Pereira

Gomes hasn’t quite been as good as he was last season, but by no means has he been among the worst performers for Wolves in 2024/25.
He runs his socks off every game, and it was very clear why O’Neil liked him so much.
And he really liked O’Neil too. Gomes was one of only a few players who wished O’Neil well on Instagram following his sacking.

Gomes knows things aren’t good right now.
It’s been a really poor season. But the Brazilian did send a message of defiance earlier today on Instagram ahead of the Pereira era commencing.
Writing on his Instagram Story, he said: “In difficult moments that the strength of a winner is revealed, up Jota.” He also left a fire and an eagle emoji.”
Joao Gomes could be vital under Vitor
The Pereira era will be truly fascinating, and Wolves have undoubtedly taken a huge risk with this appointment.
But it’s one they – and Wolves fans everywhere – hope will pay off.

Gomes could well be a very important player for Pereira, as his style of player entails relentless pressing.
Gomes is one of the best players Wolves have out of possession, and his ball-winning ability is well-documented at this point. Indeed, Dave Edwards said last season he thinks Gomes is the best ball-winner Wolves have ever had.
