Joao Gomes has sent an ominous message to Wolves’ Premier League rivals, after last night’s 3-0 win over RB Leipzig which featured an amazing team goal finished off by Rodrigo Gomes.
Wolves defeated the Bundesliga side in Miami – and it was probably the best performance of the summer so far.
Pablo Sarabia bagged a brace to potentially strengthen his case to start against Arsenal in a couple of weeks.
And then, Rodrigo Gomes finished off a simply brilliant team move.
Wolves have been much improved on the ball since Gary O’Neil came in. There has been a big emphasis put on working hard out of possession, but Wolves really have looked so much better on the ball under the Englishman than previous managers.
Joao Gomes reacts after playing big part in amazing Wolves team goal against RB Leipzig

Last night against Leipzig, O’Neil gave minutes to the players who returned to pre-season late, after their exploits at major tournaments over the summer.
There were appearances for Jose Sa, Nelson Semedo, Pedro Neto and Joao Gomes.
All four came off the bench with just over 20 minutes to go. As per journalist Nathan Judah, the quartet made Wolves look even more exciting.
Gomes – who was recently the subject of a brilliant new documentary by the club – featured heavily in Wolves’ final goal of the evening, which was a quite simply brilliant team goal.
It started with Yerson Mosquera at the back, and Nelson Semedo, Pedro Neto and Jorgen Strand Larsen were all involved in some tight interplay down the right side.
Eventually after about five or six passes, Gomes found space in the middle and drove forward. He beat a player with a stepover, before spraying the ball nonchalantly with the outside of his foot out wide to Rodrigo.
Rodrigo found Hwang Hee-chan with a ball down the line, and the South Korean then cut the ball back inside for Rodrigo to finish off the inside of the post. It was truly a delightful team goal.
After the game, a fan shared a clip of it on X and Joao Gomes reacted with what could be seen as a bit of warning to Wolves’ Premier League rivals. He said: “The vacation is over, we’re back.”

What a goal this was from Rodrigo and fans are rightly getting very excited after last night’s performance.
It’s clear Wolves are in a really good spot right now, with the intense work that O’Neil has been doing appearing to pay dividends.
But of course, Wolves do have a very tough start to the Premier League in terms of the fixture list.
Wanderers will meet some very good sides early on, so it will be a real test to get points on the board. But from the looks of how pre-season has gone, Wolves are going to get themselves a very good chance.
Right now, they are keeping the ball really well, pressing hard and scoring goals. These are very promising signs.
