Jeff Shi releases statement as Vitor Pereira sacked by Wolves

Jeff Shi has released a statement after Wolves confirmed Vitor Pereira’s sacking.

The head coach was let go following a disappointing run of games, ending with a 3-0 defeat to Fulham.

Pereira’s time at Wolves has been mixed. Last season, he guided Wolves safely out of the bottom three and comfortably above relegation upon the season’s end.

However, this campaign has been far from inspiring.

Reports on Sunday morning stated a decision had been made to sack Vitor Pereira, and now the club has confirmed the news.

Jeff Shi has now addressed the dismissal of Vitor Pereira.

Jeff Shi confirms Vitor Pereira has been sacked in statement

After just under 11 months at Wolves, Vitor Pereira is no longer head coach.

The decision to let him go was made on Sunday morning, and executive chairman Jeff Shi has now spoken out.

Jeff Shi states, “Vitor and his team worked tirelessly for Wolves and helped guide us through a challenging period last season, for which we are grateful.

“Unfortunately, the start to this season has been a disappointment, and despite our strong desire to give the head coach time and matches to find an improvement, we have reached a point where we must make a change.

“We thank Vitor and his staff for their efforts and wish them the very best for the future.”

Wolves are at the bottom of the Premier League, and the choice to let Vitor Pereira go will have been made in hopes of turning this season around.

Last year, Wolves’ decision to sack Gary O’Neil turned out to be the correct one, and they’ll be hoping that history repeats itself.
