Jeff Shi might have got one thing right as Wolves have ’unearthed a gem’

Wolves’ summer window has left a lot to be desired months on from the market closing at the start of September, despite Jeff Shi’s ‘good window’ claim.

With January now here, and a chance for clubs to add more quality to their squads, it has become clear which signings have been a success at Molineux.

Unfortunately, with the Old Gold sitting in 20th place, you would be hard-pressed to find many who have stood out this season, and that is a damning review for Fosun.

The ownership has often been criticised, and former Wolves striker Steve Bull has emphatically told them what must be done in January.

However, while a lot needs doing this month, the business in the summer was not all bad.

Who is Wolves’ best January signing in the Fosun era?

Tim Spiers believes Wolves got a bargain for Ladislav Krejci

Out of Wolves’ seven signings in the summer, including Jorgen Strand Larsen arriving on a permanent, you can only really say one has been a success.

While players such as Tolu Arokodare and David Moller Wolfe have shown signs of quality and adaptation, Ladislav Krejci has been at it from his very first game.

The former Girona man’s quality is absolutely clear to see, and that has not been going unnoticed, with Tim Spiers making a big claim about him.

Spiers said about the Czech defender (via the Athletic), “One of very few positives in the worst first half to a Premier League season imaginable. Wolves unearthed a gem when they signed Krejci, who will likely flourish when he is in a better team. The £20m deal already in place to sign him permanently is a bargain.”

Finish the sentence: Wolves’ best centre-back partnership is ________.

Wolves’ number 37 has often been labelled a leader, with even a few Wolves fans believing he is captain material.

However, with the Old Gold seemingly heading for the Championship, there could be a battle to keep him at the club.

Wolves could face a similar Jorgen Strand Larsen scenario for Ladislav Krejci

Ladislav Krejci is currently on loan at Wolves, but his move will be made permanent upon the season’s end.

It is a similar deal to the one which brought Jorgen Strand Larsen to the club. Despite the Norwegian signing permanently in the summer, that did not stop clubs from trying to snap up his signature.

With Ladislav Krejci, Wolves’ resolve will likely be tested again. The Czech defender will no doubt have plenty of interest, as he has been a real standout for the Old Gold.

The summer signing is certainly Premier League, or top division quality, and it would not be a shock to see those levels of clubs try to sign him.

Unlike with Strand Larsen a few months back, if the Wanderers are in the Championship, as seems likely, it may be harder for them to reject those incoming offers.
