Sky Sports pundit Jamie Redknapp claims he nearly fell off his sofa when he heard Wolverhampton Wanderers winger Adama Traore has no Premier League goals or assists this season.

The Spaniard was expected to kick on this term after a very exciting 2019/20 campaign.

Traore scored six goals and made 12 assists in all competitions, and Wolves fans were buzzing to see what he would bring this time around.

But it’s been a very disappointing season so far from the 25-year-old, who is seemingly missing Raul Jimenez’s company quite a bit in the final third.

On hearing about Traore’s serious lack of goal contributions, Redknapp said on Sky Sports (6/3, 17,05): “You said it that he’s not had an assist or a goal this season, I nearly fell off my sofa.

“That’s not good enough for a player of his quality. I couldn’t believe it. But he still has the most successful dribbles. It just doesn’t make sense.”

Traore under pressure to deliver

He can be credited for the Illan Meslier own goal in the game against Leeds United, and he also won a penalty against Brighton, but it’s all been really disappointing from Traore in 2020/21.

He absolutely hasn’t been helped by the injury to Jimenez, but a player with his natural qualities and experience surely should have had a better output at this stage of the season.

He’s now under a fair bit of pressure to turn his form around, or Wolves could look to sell – something that has recently been reported (Daily Mail).
