Jamie Redknapp calls Wolvs star Pedro Neto 'a world-class player'

Jamie Redknapp believes Wolves have a ‘world-class player’ on their hands in Pedro Neto.

The 23-year-old featured for Wanderers in yesterday’s 2-1 defeat to Newcastle United, coming off the bench at half-time to replace Adama Traore.

Against Spurs in the game before, Neto surprisingly started but was hooked at half-time.

It is brilliant to see him back, with the star having been out since the start of October with a bad ankle injury.

After undergoing surgery, Neto has worked hard to come back and Wolves fans are now really hoping he can help drag the team away from the relegation zone.

On paper, he is without doubt one of Wolves’ best players.

But he has missed a of football over the last couple of years due to injury.

His career has stalled somewhat, but hopefully he’ll soon be able to start playing like he did in 2019/20.

He is a very popular figure at Wolves and everyone knows how good he can be.

And Neto has a real cheerleader in Redknapp, who again spoke about the youngster just before yesterday’s game on Sky Sports.

He said: “Wolves are extremely dangerous. They’ve got confidence and pace as well. They’ve got Traore, players like that. Jamie Carragher alluded to Neto on the bench. If you can get him 25/30 minutes or whatever it is…

“I think he’s a world-class player. They can certainly hurt teams.”

Jamie Redknapp really loves Pedro Neto, as Wolves hope winger can find form again

This is high praise indeed from Redknapp for Neto. And it isn’t the first time he’s raved about him.

He said he felt he was going to become world-class back in January 2022 during the coverage of Wolves’ 1-0 win over Manchester United at Old Trafford.

When Neto returned from injury against Leicester City that season, Redknapp then branded him ‘one of the best (young) talents in world football’.

And earlier this season, he said that Neto was ‘influential’ and one of the best players in the entire Premier League.

It’s safe to say Redknapp is a huge fan. And hopefully, the Portuguese can help Wolves in these coming weeks.

Wolves have been toothless in the final third and need his directness and threat.
