Gary O’Neil could be in trouble if Wolves’ terrible form continues much further into the season.
After eight games played in the 2024/25 Premier League calendar, the Old Gold have just one point, earning a draw against Nottingham Forest.
The draw at the City Ground came on match day three and since then, Wolves have lost every game.
Losing late against Manchester City most recently was an agonising blow for Gary O’Neil’s side, who are without a win in the league since April.

Jamie O’Hara names ideal Gary O’Neil replacement at Wolves
As a result of Wolves’ poor form, O’Neil’s position as manager has been questioned as the Midlands club sit rock bottom of the Premier League table.
Things must improve fast for the Old Gold to avoid a relegation battle, with possible replacements for O’Neil already rumoured to have been spoken about.
Earlier this month, Wolves were linked to Jimmy Thelin, who is impressing at Aberdeen although, no more has come from the speculation.

More recently, talkSPORT pundit Jamie O’Hara opened up about the position O’Neil finds himself at Molineux, sharing sympathy for the manager before offering his verdict on who the ‘perfect’ replacement might be, via Shropshire Star.
“The perfect guy to get in is Sean Dyche but he’s at Everton,” O’Hara said when speaking at the Copa del Cure tournament, raising awareness for Leukaemia.
The pundit went on to explain what he believes Wolves need, given that Sean Dyche has a large enough job on his hands at Everton.
“Or, you find someone who can implement a different style of football and maybe try and lift the players that way.”
O’Hara’s opinion is not one likely to be shared by many at his former club, as Wolves continue to navigate their way through the season.
Wolves have too much talent to waste
When looking at the calibre of players that O’Neil has at his disposal at Molineux, it’s remarkable to realise that Wolves sit 20th in the league table.
With no disrespect to other clubs near the bottom, Wolves have an abundance of top talent in their ranks, making their start to the campaign perplexing.
Such is the reason that some fans would like to see O’Neil replaced, as the prospect of wasting this group of players on a relegation-battling campaign is painful.
Dyche could be the answer if Wolves require a get-out-of-jail-free card later in the season however for now, all those associated with the club want to see is a better standard of football and the results to match.
