Jamie O’Hara shares who is really at fault for Wolves’ current struggles

Wolves fans are seething after another defeat in the Premier League against Brentford.

Gary O’Neil oversaw his sixth defeat of the season in the league, losing 5-3 against the Bees at the Gtech Community Stadium.

Wolves put in a shambolic performance down in west London and the pressure has now cranked up significantly on the manager.

But despite that, O’Neil does retain the support of his superiors. The board was said to be concerned by the performance at Brentford, but believes he can turn things around.

Since Saturday’s game, Wolves fans have been discussing who they think is responsible for the mess the club is currently in.

There are plenty of potential culprits, and Jamie O’Hara has offered his two cents on who is mainly at fault.

Jamie O’Hara says Fosun are mostly to blame for Wolves’ current situation, not Gary O’Neil

Things are very bleak at the moment at Wolves.

Only a few years ago, the club were in such a promising position. Nuno Espirito Santo had left, but Bruno Lage came in and had the club thinking about a push for European football.

But he came up short for a number of reasons, one being that his squad just wasn’t big enough.

O’Neil did well last season at Wolves, but struggled for similar reasons. After being hit with a number of injuries, he just didn’t have the squad to push on for Europe, with Wolves finishing 14th.

This term, O’Neil has really struggled and there are certainly parallels between his stint at Wolves and Lage’s. But it looks as though O’Neil will get a little more time than the Portuguese got.

A lot are ‘O’Neil out’ now, but O’Hara thinks Fosun are mainly to blame for the current mess.

He said on talkSPORT yesterday evening: “The problem you have got is the buck stops with the manager. He is the one who goes and gets the sack. I think it will be really harsh on Gary O’Neil.

“I know performances or the results haven’t been there, but what do you expect? You have got injuries, Kilman goes, Neto goes. The owners haven’t helped him out really, have they?”

Some fans will share O’Hara’s opinion, after chants of ‘we want Fosun out’ were heard after yesterday’s game.

Fosun have failed O’Neil and Wolves

There is no doubt about it – Fosun’s attitude to Wolves in recent times is a reason the club is now in dire straits.

There has been a lack of ambition from the owners, with many fans feeling the most important thing for them now is getting the club to become self-sustaining and simply existing in the Premier League.

O’Neil has been failed by his superiors. Yes, he has made plenty of mistakes and questionable decisions.

But he’s arguably not had the appropriate tools to work with.

There are so many people responsible for Wolves’ downfall but when multiple managers fail for similar reasons, you have to look at those at the top more than anyone else.
