James Collins drops ‘terrific’ Jonny Castro Otto verdict after U21s appearance

James Collins praised Jonny Castro Otto last night, after the defender made an appearance for his U21 side.

The Spaniard is currently away from the first-team after the club took the decision to banish him, after a recent incident at the training ground.

At the moment, details on what happened exactly have not been made public.

Jonny is to stay away from the first-team until the end of January according to the club, which suggests that Wolves will seek to offload the player next month.

At the moment, it is thought he does not have any offers to leave. Wolves could apparently move for a new left-back if he does depart.

Last night, Jonny turned out for the U21s against Norwich City – and James Collins spoke about him after the game…

The Wolves U21s took on Norwich last night at Aggborough, and were unfortunate to lose 1-0.

Wolves dominated the ball and had several good chances to score, but came undone when Joe Duffy scored for the visitors.

Duffy scored in the first-half, poking the ball in from a Guilherme Montoia cross.

Collins felt his side deserved more from the game, and said that he would be driving home pleased despite the defeat.

Collins also had a word on Jonny, saying: “You’re obviously disappointed to miss the chances but I’m delighted with the performance, delighted with the spirit from the most senior player.

“Jonny playing at the level he played at was terrific for our lads to see down to the boys that have come in who haven’t played for ages for us.”

Good to hear

Wolves fans are currently in the dark about what Jonny did to warrant being banished from first-team activities, but this is a positive update about the player.

Matt Hobbs confirmed last week that Jonny apologised over the incident, and clearly he is not about to sit around not doing anything.

Hobbs said that it was up to the player if he was going to play U21s football, and it’s good to see him getting involved, even if he may well be leaving the club in the next window.

It sounds as though Collins was definitely pleased to have him around.
