Jackson Tchatchoua makes honest admission on what he needs to improve for Wolves

Jackson Tchatchoua has so far struggled to imprint himself into Vitor Pereira’s immediate plans.

The Cameroonian defender has started just two games for Wolves since making a permanent move from Hellas Verona in the summer.

Tchatchoua impressed fans with his performance off the bench against Tottenham, and he appears to be one of the best options to start at right-back on Sunday.

The potential of Kaoru Mitoma or Yankuba Minteh being put on the left for the Seagulls makes the Wolves defender’s pace a crucial asset vs Brighton.

The Japanese winger is a doubt for the game, which could provide some relief.

However, while Tchatchoua has not yet made as big an impact as he would have hoped, he has said where he believes he must improve.

Jackson Tchatchoua knows he must do better to get into Wolves’ starting XI.

So far, Hugo Bueno and Rodrigo Gomes have been ahead of him in the pecking order. However, with the change of formation to a four-back, a position that is much more familiar to the player than playing wing-back, he could start to impress.

He has now spoken about what he must do to become better for the Old Gold, and it is a good sign for fans that he knows his areas of improvement.

Speaking to Wolves’ official website, Tchatchoua said, “I think the team has become better, and me also. I feel this. I also feel what I can improve with the ball: be calmer and easier.

“When you begin a new championship, you have some stress, and sometimes you feel a little bit of pressure, and you lose some easy balls. This is something I can improve on this side.”

Jackson Tchatchoua is not the only new signing struggling

Jackson Tchatchoua is not alone in his struggles to adapt.

While Ladislav Krejci has seamlessly slotted into English football, many of Wolves’ other signings have yet to do so.

Jhon Arias has shown glimpses of quality and he has started to adapt but it still remains to be seen if he can perform consistently; meanwhile, David Moller Wolfe has had a disappointing start to life at Molineux.

The Norwegian full-back has admitted it has been tough in England, as he has been left with limited minutes so far this season.

Fer Lopez is still mainly seen as an option off the bench, although he has had a couple of starts. Additionally, Tolu Arokodare is another who has had a decent impact since signing, scoring his first goal against Everton last week.

With Matt Doherty out injured, Tchatchoua will have a chance to stake a long-term claim to be the Old Gold’s starting right-back in their back-four system.
