‘It’s a penalty’: TalkSPORT pundit explains why VAR was right to give penalty

Wolves saw a controversial penalty given to Luton which was the deciding factor in the game.

Pedro Neto had opened the scoring early with a brilliant solo goal to continue his excellent form.

The Wolves defence was also solid as they denied a dominant Luton side who were piling the pressure on.

Joao Gomes‘ arm however is the reason Wolves haven’t walked away with all three points.

But was it a penalty? Mike Dean and Gary Lineker don’t think so with both explaining their confusion at the decision.

But Gabby Agbonlahor has now explained that why it was a penalty.

Agbonlahor on VAR decision

Speaking while on-air for talkSPORT, Agbonlahor explained that “It’s a penalty.”

This opinion came as a vast contradiction to what others have said, but the pundit continued with an explanation.

“Your arm doesn’t go that high when you stretch! His arm has no need to be there.”

A controversial statement from Agbonlahor, however ultimately VAR agreed with him.

Would the penalty have mattered in the end?

While we do disagree with Gabby, it is hard to say Wolves deserved to win that game.

They played so poorly that Wolves of all clubs were outplaying them, something that hasn’t happened all season for the Hatters.

Luton might have scored anyway had they not got the penalty, but we will never know.

But Wolves can’t blame VAR for the draw, as they should be scoring more than one and outplaying Luton anyway.
